This position would work in the Solar Imaging Team which currently has responsibilities on the GOES-R series Solar UltraViolet Imager (SUVI) and the Compact Coronagraph programs. These instruments are part of the space weather forecasting apparatus that is maintained by NOAA. Our team calibrates the data from these instruments, monitors the long-term stability of the instrument and data, and serves the data to the public. We are preparing for new responsibilities for the upcoming coronagraph programs including L5/Vigil and Space Weather Next L1-series. The selected candidate will help the Solar Imaging Team validate and maintain existing operational data sources and prepare algorithms and calibration plans for future instruments. Applicants for this position must possess excellent analytic skills and capacity for team collaboration. Experience working with solar or heliospheric data is beneficial but not required (please see "What You Will Need"). Applicants should also possess strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have to complete a real-time Python-based coding challenge. This position is located in the Solar Terrestrial Physics Section within NCEI at the David Skaggs Research Center, Boulder, CO.
