We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and work with our customer, supporting a fleet of test vehicles in Torrance, CA. Job Summary The Data Engineer is responsible for supporting an autonomous driving project. The vehicle will be capturing data on controlled access roads in varying conditions. The vehicles will be instrumented with the appropriate sensors to provide our customer with daily vehicle data. After each day of driving the vehicle hard drives will be removed, replaced, and the data transferred to the appropriate servers to ensure data integrity. This role will be a main point of contact to the project manager . This Data Engineer is technically responsible for organizing, executing and coordinating the data transfer process - this includes hardware tracking, logistics and communication amongst the team. Qualifications Main Responsibilities <ul><li>Basic equipment (instrumentation) understanding</li><li>Data system support and light vehicle troubleshooting</li><li>Nightly data transfer activities (remove HDD's, label HDD's, track HDD's, begin data transfer, repeat process for 5 to 10 vehicles in total)</li><li>Create, document and communicate a data copy process back to program manager</li><li>Daily communication, and weekly meetings with the program manager on data/HDD status</li></ul> Requirements/Previous Experience <ul><li>Test Engineering (equipment, reporting, analysis, etc.)</li><li>Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines</li><li>Sound understanding with project management fundamentals, e.g., work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reports</li><li>Ability to work well in a team environment</li><li>Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills</li><li>Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services</li><li>Hands-on problem solving and continuous improvement leadership</li></ul> Physical Requirements This position is located in a laboratory environment and will involve hands-on work with tools and testing equipment.
