We are seeking a summer intern to support the Business Transformation & Automation team within the Natural Gas Business Unit, specifically to work on climate related initiatives. This intern’s work assignments will primarily be focused on supporting initiatives aimed at reducing or offsetting our methane emissions.
Responsibilities:
Supporting our Department of Energy grant project and associated research/data science efforts and deliverables

General data analysis and data modeling to forecast emissions reductions or green tariff programs.

Business case development for emissions monitoring technology implementation

Support and participate in AI/ML development efforts related to emissions quantification and emissions reduction efforts.

Basic/Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance

Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

Desired Qualifications/ Required Skills/Expertise:
Cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher

Currently enrolled and pursuing a minor in Data Science

Demonstrated high level analytical skills and advanced knowledge of math and statistics to conduct novel research

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Familiarity with analytics tools such as Python, SQL, AWS, Power Query/DaX, Power BI

Demonstrated organizational, presentation, facilitation and planning skills

Excellent oral, written, and technical communication skills and a solid command of the English language; Demonstrated ability to communicate complex relationships and concepts using data to drive change

Working Conditions:
Virtual Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from a remote location after the onboarding period. However, virtual employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.
